- Access via Highway 78 east of Brawley or Interstate 8 west of Yuma. The motorized open area lies south of Highway 78; the North Algodones Dunes Wilderness is closed to motor vehicles.

- The dune system is approximately 40 miles long; that figure is a landscape dimension, not trail mileage. Do not ride in the North Algodones Dunes Wilderness.
